The Greene School is a Rhode Island charter high school located in West Greenwich. The Greene School strives towards cultivating environmentally conscious students, who are capable of innovating and solving the global issues of today and tomorrow. Although the Greene School mainly focuses on the intangible learning within nature that its students will need for combating the world’s problems, the school also performs above averagely on standardized tests. Much of the school’s academic proficiency may be due to the high socioeconomic status of the surrounding West Greenwich. Although the school is less than diverse demographically and testing scores are, by and large, unimpressive the school staff attempt to avoid just playing "The Game of School" and try to teach students meaningful knowledge that will create the future leaders needed in order to save the planet from ecological meltdown.

The Greene School’s test scores are, for the most part, entirely unexceptional. The school scores at an average level across all standardized tests. The school’s math scores are slightly below average, the average SAT score for the Greene School was a 463, slightly lower than both the national(513) and state(484) averages, this trend remains constant for all standardized tests taken by the Greene School. Although the math scores for the Green School are slightly below average, the reading and writing scores cut a contrast with their lackluster mathematics scores. Both writing and reading scores are marginally above average across the standardized tests taken by the Greene School. The school’s SAT reading scores were 50 points higher than the state average(532 to 483) and the school’s writing scores were 20 points higher than the state average( 495 to 471) (InfoWorks). While overall the Greene School’s scores are only average, it can be assumed that the school’s students excel in areas that can not be measured through standardized testing but are encouraged by the school’s staff, such as innovation and creativity.

Within the Greene School 34% of students are eligible for reduced lunch, considerably lower than the 47% state average. Additionally, the school has the same number of students receiving special educations services as the state average(15%) (Infoworks). The school, similarly to the outlying area, has a predominantly middle class, English speaking student body.
